Meet the newest technician, Grey McAlaine, and the new Seahorse XFe24!

The MPC has recently acquired a new research technician, Grey McAlaine, as of August 2021. She received her BA in Biology from Bard College and did her senior project on the microbiology of spiderwebs. She has studied in a number of different labs, from nanotechnology to soil feedback, and is extremely excited to take on the metabolism! She will be taking over for the previous technician, Vincent Dartigue.

In addition to the many services the MPC already offers, we are excited to offer Agilent’s Seahorse XFe24 Analyzer! The Agilent Seahorse XFe24 Analyzers measure the oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) of live cells in a 24-well plate format. The OCR and ECAR provide insight into the cellular metabolic function of cultured cells and ex-vivo samples by indicating mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis, as well as ATP production rate.

To celebrate these exciting changes, we are changing our seahorse pricing to 62.50 per plate. Additionally, researchers can now receive training to use the EchoMRI for $25 per hour.
